When Chris Weitz and Gray Whitta were writing Rogue One, this title wasn’t their first choice. The writing duo snowballed many names for this movie, and Whitta even put forward the idea of “Shadow of the Death Star.” However, they eventually went for something a little shorter.

There have been countless Star Wars characters introduced to us over the years, and the timeline of Rogue One excited many fans of Admiral Ackbar. They assumed that this Mon Calamari soldier would make an appearance – and he did, to begin with. In the end, though, the writers decided to replace him with Admiral Raddus.
