Daycare workers have to deal with children throughout the whole day. Children are the most curious, cunning, and conscious beings. So, there is no doubt that the job of a daycare worker is not a piece of cake. They have to be face to face with many unexpected situations and embarrassing queries. Let us look at some of the most shocking stories revealed by daycare workers from their personal experiences.
Your Secret Is (Un)safe With Me!
Daycare centers have to deal with lots of children. No secrets are safe with children. They just love to share everything they know and hear about, especially about their parents.

They tend to be more open with daycare workers. This child shared with her daycare teacher that her dad has sleepovers with lots of women. Apparently, her mom is still with her father because of his money. How unexpected is that to hear from a child? We wonder how the teacher reacted to that.
The Right Cue
Growing up, different children go through different experiences. Childcare workers have to deal with all sorts of different scenarios. Kids have their own innocent way of portraying their experiences. Sometimes, they will say something totally strange, but in the most normal tone ever.

This child shared that his mother and her boyfriend had a fight. However, when the little boy went to kiss his mom goodbye before school, he saw they were not dressed — thus, he figured that they patched things up. That’s some innocent way of understanding elders’ relationships.
Sad Mommy
Kids have the sweetest bond with their mothers. They tend to grow closer, as they spend more time together. As a matter of fact, they’re with their mothers during some private moments too. This is why they know a lot about their own mothers.

For example, this kid told his daycare teacher that his mommy had to call in sick because the plastic in her breast popped. Apparently, his mother had breast implants. Someone needs to tell this kid he shouldn’t share everything.
Stick to the Cod
Many parents choose to teach their children code words for slightly embarrassing business, especially regarding going to the bathroom. When they’re at daycare, the workers are supposed to understand all these special terms.

However, some families go too far with this idea and make it sound inappropriate. This kid was exposed at his daycare when he said he had to drain his snake. This was an expression he learned from his uncle to announce he needed to pee. That must have been a bit of an uncomfortable moment.
Daddy’s Footsteps
All the stories daycare workers hear from the kids are really difficult to digest. Some stories are inappropriate, while some can be pretty scary. This worker once heard a child say he learned to use the eraser when his dad removed zeros from checks.

Yes, the daycare workers have to hear these stories and keep them to themselves. They can barely even make the children understand how private the information they’re spreading is. We hope the kid does not meet a cop anytime soon.
The Blacksheep
Children spend a long portion of their day in daycare. They tend to be more open with daycare workers. They can share their feelings pretty casually.

This child here shares with the daycare center worker that her father only shows up at school events, so he can pretend to be with his family. This is something super sad for a child to be able to process. However, this child shares this somewhat reluctantly, it seems. Her daddy was a black sheep.
The Big Secret Keeper
If you work at a daycare center, you should know you have a sacred responsibility. You have to be a great secret keeper. You will have to bury the craziest secrets of the children’s family because they will literally tell you anything.

For example, this kid shared with his daycare worker that he has a secret brother, someone his mother had when she was 18, but no one knows about. Whoa! Now, the daycare worker must be wondering what to do with such a bizarre piece of information.
Practical Lessons
As a daycare worker, you have to educate the children with basic knowledge. Of course, the lessons are going to be playful. They need to be informative too. However, you’ll find some children who keep bringing up their practical lessons.

In a lesson about herbivores and carnivores, this kid shared with the whole daycare group that his parents were carnivores since he saw them being intimate together. We wonder how difficult it is to explain it to the rest of the class.
I Got You!
The children that come into the daycare are not always sweet and naïve — some of them are witty and sharp. The workers have to put in extra effort for those.

This daycare worker shares that one time, a student was telling everyone her brother drowned, and after a pause, she would say she was kidding. She must have grown a dark sense of humor. We hope the daycare manages to keep the rest of the children at bay from falling for her wit.
The Lost Dad
Children are very fond of telling stories, especially those with a big impact. At daycare, students feel excited to share. However, sometimes, these stories are way too personal. This child shares that his father abandoned them and apparently lied about his identity.

Now, his mother has hired a private investigator to find his dad. As traumatizing as the story sounds, the kid narrated the story much simply. We hope the daycare workers find a way to console the child gently.
The Left Out Fella
Children can get upset over the smallest things possible. At daycare, the workers have to keep a close eye that no one is upset about anything. This is why the kids have room to be more comfortable.

This child shared with a daycare worker that his parents watched a special kind of movie for his mother’s birthday. However, he was upset because he wasn’t allowed to watch. We understand why he was heartbroken and hope the worker was able to cheer him up.
The Observant Kid
Children are very observant. They are aware of things that go on around them. They also try to connect the dots. Daycare workers have to work with such active and curious children, which is more than enough to explain how hard they have to work.

This worker was trying to explain the importance of math in a class when the child claimed that his dad doesn’t need math since he grows certain medicinal herbs at home. The worker sure has been blunt to hear so. Surely, the whole class was curious.
Health Conscious Parents
Children ask the most inappropriate question with utter innocence. The daycare workers are responsible for answering these queries with the utmost patience and politeness. This daycare worker shares that one time a child asked why her parents made struggling noises after bedtime.

The worker replied that they exercise after dinner. This really killed two birds with one stone. Now, the kid knows it’s important to exercise and won’t bother her parents. 10 points to this witty daycare worker for saving the day.
The Big Papa
Daycare centers are all about sharing and communicating with others. As a result, the children learn to exchange emotions. Because of this trend, children come up with all sorts of hilarious stories.

For example, this daycare worker shares, she asked a two-year-old in her class about his parents’ names. He called his father “big papa,” as that’s what his mother calls his father. This is hysterical. We hope the worker didn’t burst into laughter. However, we wouldn’t have been surprised if she had.
Mother in Distress
Sometimes, parents don’t think that fighting about even the littlest things affects their kids. But, children have fragile hearts. Daycare workers have to be the bridge in such situations to comfort the children.

This daycare worker shares that one child complained he couldn’t sleep because his parents kept yelling at each other in the middle of the night. Such experiences can be harsh for children of their age. The daycare workers need to carefully help them so that such events don’t cause long-term childhood trauma.
Break a Leg
To some children, their parents are their role models. So, they love to act like their parents whenever they get the chance. You can see the children consciously or subconsciously resembling their parents at daycare centers.

This daycare worker shares that this one time, a child started twerking on the table when he was asked what his parents do for a living. We’re not sure what this kid was trying to explain. However, it must have been an entertaining morning in the class.
Birds and Bees
The children are always curious about birds’ and bees’ conversations. However, unfortunately, most daycare workers have a difficult time explaining such questions. They have to make sure their answers are age-appropriate.

One day, this daycare worker shares that a child asked her when two men are married, who’s going to bear the child? Yes, the questions keep getting more complicated with time. The flying duck with a baby in a basket may not just be the right answer anymore. The daycare workers need to get more creative.
Family Time?
Some children are really close with their parents. They have their own family time and everything. However, sometimes, they pick up odd things that daycare workers have to deal with later. This daycare worker shares once a kid drew a picture of himself and his father.

Except in the picture, they weren’t wearing clothes. This must have been super uncomfortable. Yes, these are some of the more gruesome details daycare workers have to go through in their day-to-day lives.
Daddy Is a Pretty Girl
Children are as innocent as morning dew. They will curiously observe everything around them. This daycare worker shares she was putting on makeup once while she found a boy staring at her.

When she asked if his mother wears makeup, he replied no, his father does. As shocking as this sounds, the boy had the cutest way of explaining how his dad wears makeup and his mother’s dress. Well, people can have hobbies.
The Dark Imitation
Like we said before, children like to imitate their elders, especially their parents. This is a very common phenomenon. Daycare workers have to witness a lot of these behaviors, as they spend a great deal of time with kids.

For example, this daycare worker shares, this girl was talking on a toy phone once and was yelling at her father, pretending to be her own mother. This must have been scary and sad at the same time. We hope the daycare worker keeps the secret to herself.
“Frozen” Sisters
When children discover something new, their faces glow with excitement. It’s wonderful to hear about unless you’re a daycare worker. Because if you are one, then you have to deal with it.

This daycare worker shares one time a girl told her that her father has a secret family where she has a sister of her own age. The child has been super excited about the whole thing. However, the daycare worker had no clue how to respond to such information.
Tea Spill
Children are the best sources for tea spilling sessions. They will tell you all the juicy gossip in the family. Being a daycare worker, you have to hear these whether you want to know or not.

This daycare worker revealed that a kid shared a story in which his mother broke his father’s guitar because he was with another woman. We wonder how the child even comes up with this information. Why would parents even share such details with their children?
The Night Birds
Daycare workers have to be very patient and dedicated. They find themselves in embarrassing situations quite often. So, they have to be careful around the children. However, no matter how hard they try, some children will always succeed in creating an uncomfortable situation.

While reading about owls, this daycare worker shares that one kid shares that her parents make sounds like owls in the middle of the night. We hope the daycare worker found some sort of explanation for the child.
The Closet Greeneries
Some children are real cuties. They’re always a step ahead to be helpful and kind to others. However, they still are children and will spill facts no one asked for. In this daycare center, the children were being taught how to plant trees.

She shared that she was excited to learn so that she could help her father grow his special plants in his closet. We wonder how she found out about the secret closet. The daycare worker has to ignore this secret too.
Geography Is a Crime
Daycare workers deal with all sorts of kids and so, they come across all types of stories. Every kid tells their stories differently, and they’re very interesting to listen to. For example, this daycare worker was talking about geography.

One of the kids was excited to tell his geography story. It turns out his uncle went to jail because of geography, which is weird. However, the daycare worker understood it was not a geography story. The kid misunderstood. Days in daycare are a rollercoaster ride for the workers.
The Broken Computer
Not every kid grows up in a normal household. They see so many ups and downs. There are kids out there who are even unable to put those things into words. They come up with sentences you can’t understand quickly.

A former daycare worker reveals that one of the kindergarten kids shared that his father threw their computer out of the window. When the worker asked what the reason was, he said that his mother’s boyfriend was on it. His mother probably was cheating on his father.
Money in the Bank
Children ratting on their parents is common in daycare centers. They want to tell the class pretty much everything. Being a daycare worker among these children is an absolute challenge.

So, this daycare worker shared that one time, a kid told him she couldn’t do anything peacefully in the kitchen because her mother sold bags full of green herbs to people through the back door. We really are sorry that the kid has to see such things. Hopefully, the daycare worker gets to intervene in such situations.
A Love Parallel?
Kids have their own coping mechanisms. They will deal with things the way they’ve been told to. Most parents hide their secrets from kids in various ways, and kids behave according to that. This daycare worker got to know about this kid whose parents are having affairs.

The kid said the bad lady took her father away. The shocking part is that the bad lady’s child also studied in the same classroom. Daycare workers need to remain very patient in such situations.
The Heavy Burden
A daycare job isn’t easy. Most of the time, childcare workers deal with such issues that are very hard. Kids have no secrets. One of the childcare workers shared this story of a mother. Who hides her whole identity from her child?

They’re totally different people when working in a company. This woman is hiding from the outer world. Kids often don’t get along with such information. At the same time, workers get confused about how to deal with this.
The Tattletale
Kids love to pour their imagination through paintings. At the daycare center, the children get to be creative with brushes. This little girl painted a family picture where there was a little child in her mother’s belly.

The innocent kid did not know that was a secret between her and her mother. Parents wanted to keep it as a surprise but were caught off guard when the secret became an art piece.
Bath Time Stories
Kids share hilarious stories based on their daily life. This former childcare worker shared this hilarious story that he’ll never forget. Once a little girl told her that her mom shaved her father’s back while showering.

Another one told her that when her father keeps an eye on her during bathtime, he sometimes takes that time to poop. Daycare workers get to hear this very intimate information. They feel embarrassed when they face their parents afterward. Kids’ way of telling things is weird, albeit hilarious.
Innocent Deception
Kids are like clay. You can mold them into any shape you want. Similarly, they will believe whatever you’re going to tell them. Telling them about their ill parents might affect their mental health. A daycare worker needs to be very careful about these sensitive issues.

Once a daycare worker shared this emotional story where a little girl believes her father works in heaven — when the truth is, her father is no more. Dealing with such situations is never easy.
Point Blank
The way of telling things is quite different for kids. Sometimes, they’ll say things casually, and other times with utter excitement. One cannot assume what the information is about. This elementary school teacher experienced an awkward situation.

When she asked her student who was picking her up from school, she replied her mother. The teacher again asked, what about your father? The girl revealed that her father is in jail. That was shocking for the teacher. Teachers often get stuck in this kind of situation.
The Harsh Reality
Different children experience different things while growing up. Not every kid has the privilege of having a perfect family. Here the four-year-old kid’s parents split, and they live with their present partners.

Coping up with such things is difficult for the kid. The kid thinks her father physically assaulted her mother. Luckily, the daycare worker understands the matter.
Dark and Beetlejuice
Parents should always tell their kids about their profession. It’s better for kids if they have enough information about their parents. This daycare worker reveals that one of her students explains her parents’ profession in a very funny manner.

She tells everyone that her mother pokes corpses. She loves to say dark and Beetlejuice. Because her parents are morticians, it’s pretty evident they’re letting her know more about that.
The Invitation
Kids adapt to anything very quickly. They will imitate you like a parrot. This tendency of them is quite funny. At the same time, it can bring about awkward situations for the parents.

According to this daycare worker, she shared that a little kid started crying because another kid called her baby. When the kid was asked, the answer was unexpected. The reason was that her mother used to address her father withs “baby” every night. That’s why she picked it up.
The Sergeant Dad
Kids have their own way of explaining a word. They get creative when sharing their thoughts. Here, the daycare worker disclosed one of the hilarious stories she came across. When asked about her father’s profession, the kid said her father fixed breasts.

That was an unlikely, very weird answer. When the daycare worker confronts her mother, she replies that he’s an anesthesiologist. The kid must have picked it up at a family gathering. The kid has a sharp ear. She picked up this bizarre word from a casual conversation.
The Realist
Kids and their honesty! You cannot see any other human being as straightforward as a kid. They’ll say things so bluntly. The daycare worker faces this type of situation every day.

Here, the daycare worker shared her story. When her kindergarten student protested and said that he didn’t choose to be there, but that his dad did, the OP couldn’t really argue.
The Sneak Peek
Kids are always eager to share whenever they hear something relevant. Daycare workers spend a great deal of time introducing new things to the children. However, the children sometimes are almost always ready to intervene.

For example, this daycare worker shares the time she showed handcuffs, and a child was eager to share how her mother also cuffs her father sometimes at night. Situations like such are really sabotaging. The daycare worker must have had a difficult time diverting the class’s attention from the topic.
Toy Story Again
A daycare worker has to deal with weird situations. You’ll never know what’s coming next. Kids will bring in whatever they find attractive, and it can be anything. Their curious minds have no boundaries.

According to this daycare worker, one of the kids brought her mother’s toy with her. Workers were so confused that they didn’t even know how to turn it off. You cannot blame the kid, though. They put the daycare worker in a hassle.
The Romanovs: The Dark Ending Of Russia’s Last Dynasty
Who Were The Romanovs?
The Romanovs ruled Russia for three centuries and were the last imperial dynasty. Their rule began in 1613. Under their leadership, the Russian Empire was created and Russia became an influential force in Europe. 18 Romanovs ruled over Russia until 1917, when, during the Russian Revolution, the monarchy was ended, and Czar Nicholas II, along with his entire family, was executed.

Rise To Power
As high-ranking aristocrats, the Romanovs had close ties with the Rurik Dynasty, who ruled before them for 700 years. Following the death of his older brother and father, Feodor inherited the throne in 1584. After his death in 1598, with no children next in line, a power struggle began. After 15 years, in 1613, Mikhail Romanov, then a 16 years old kid, accepted the throne. Knowing that his ruling was not that secure, Mikhail tried to highlight his ties with the Rurik dynasty.

Reforms And Industrialization
Starting the industrialization of Russia, Peter the Great made a country known for its export in wood and mined resources. Russia became the greatest exporter of iron in the world. Peter the Great continued in his brother’s footsteps. He reformed the traditional political system with a modern one based on science. Even today, there are many government institutions that can trace their origins to his rule. After his death in 1725, new dynastic struggles followed. Peter managed to change the succession tradition not to be based on only male heirs.

Elizabeth Petrovna
Empress from 1741 to 1762, Elizabeth was one of the most popular monarchs to live, as she refused to execute anyone during her ruling. With relatively no experience and at the age of 33, Elizabeth took over an empire that needed a good ruling hand. With all her imperfections, she proved to have a knack for governing. Continuing her father’s reforms, she led Russia into an Age of Enlightenment. She helped in the formation of the University of Moscow and the Imperial Academy of Arts.

Nicholas II
Nicholas II was the last emperor of Russia. He reigned from November 1894 until March 15, 1917 when he was forced to abdicate. He implemented reforms to give civil liberties to his citizens, to modernize the infrastructure. However, Nicholas II was not that successful because of his opponents who would fight him, making these actions not that effective. Losing the Russian-Japanese war, state propaganda made him look weak and incompetent and put all the blame on him.

Heritage and Family
Born in 1868, Nicholas II was Emperor Alexander III’s first child. He came from a long line of blue bloods and reigning families from Europe. He was of German and Danish descent and was also related to Grand Duchess Anna Petrovna of Russia and Peter the Great. His ties to other royals were close. Frederick VIII of Denmark was his primary uncle, and Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom was his aunt, both from his mother’s bloodline. He and King George V of the United Kingdom were also closely related.

Youth
During his early teen years, Nicholas spent his life like any other royal boy. In 1881, he became heir apparent after his grandfather’s assassination. His father became Tsar, and the entire family moved outside of the capital. For security reasons, they moved into the Anichkov Palace. He later swore loyalty to his father at his coming of age ceremony. With Duke George and Prince George of Greece, he started traveling the world. One memorable event happened in Japan when he was attacked by a police officer.

Preparation To Become Tsar
After his world tour, he returned to Russia, where he took part in the inauguration for the Trans Siberian Railway, which took place in Vladivostok. He represented his parents and the Russian Royalties at the Duke of York’s wedding. His father was relatively young and had never thought to start preparing him to rule. At the suggestion of Finance Minister Sergei Witte, Nicholas started working with the Siberian Railway Committee. His father, however, thought he was too young and inexperienced.

Engagement
In the spring of 1894, Nicholas traveled to Germany for the wedding of the Grand Duke of Hesse, who happened to be the brother of Alexandra (Alix of Hesse). After the wedding, Nicholas proposed to her. She rejected his proposal due to the fact that he was Orthodox and she was not. When the Kaiser received the news, he encouraged her to marry and convert like her sister Elizabeth had previously done. Nicholas’s parents were not sure about the engagement. Alix did not make a good impression when she first came to Russia, but they eventually blessed the marriage.

The Death Of Alexander III
At only forty-nine years old, Alexander III met his death. In the autumn of 1894, when it first became clear that he was not going to make it, he asked for Alix to come to Russia. Even though he was miserable, he received her dressed in his uniform. He encouraged Nicholas to listen to the advice of Witte, who he considered to be his best minister. He died in November, and at only 26 years old, Nicholas became Emperor.

Nicholas’ Accession
After his father’s death, Nicholas was made Tsar by his father’s priest, thus becoming Nicholas II. Alix converted to Russian orthodoxy and changed her name to Alexandra Feodorovna, Grand Duchess. Nicholas felt unsteady and unprepared for his role as Tsar. During his reign, he decided to honor his late father and maintain his policy while paying more attention to administrative details. He proved he was not totally unskilled, even if he initially wondered what was going to happen with Russia under his ruling.

The Royal Wedding
Even though the wedding was planned one year after the engagement, in the spring of 1895, Nicholas insisted it should take place sooner. He was completely in love with Alexandra, and under the pressure of his new title, she was the only one who gave him strength and self-confidence. He was not going to let her go. Their wedding date was moved to November 26th. She wore a Romanov wedding dress, and he was dressed in hussar uniform.

The Coronation
The official coronation of Nicholas II took place in May of 1896. He was declared Tsar of Russia. The ceremony took place in the Uspensky Cathedral, which can be found in the Kremlin. His coronation was marked by the tragedy of Khodynka. Thousands gathered there for the large festival that was held by the Tsar. They were promised food and free drinks. Almost 1,400 people died there, and another 1,300 were injured. The Russians saw this as a sign of misfortune.

Religion Of Politics
Tsar Nicholas II was a big believer in God, so much that he thought God himself wanted him to rule over Russia. With this belief, he went on to say his choices and decisions were the direct will of the Lord. He was also a big believer in the idea that the Russian people knew this and appreciated him for it. He also based a lot of his decisions upon the idea that they were coming from a higher power.

Foreign Affairs
The last Tsar of Russia knew that connections with other states were beneficial. Therefore, he worked towards having more allies and agreements. After Franz Joseph’s visit, a gentleman’s agreement was signed that maintained peace and the status quo for a long time in the Balkans. Thanks to this decision, Russia saw enormous economic development in the country. He also strengthened the Franco-Russian alliance, continuing the work started by his late father and contributed to the pacification of Europe.

The Russo-Japanese War
Some say that Nicholas held a grudge against the Japanese ever since he was attacked by an officer during his visit there in his youth. After a declaration of war, the war began in 1904 when Japan attacked Port Arthur, a Russian fleet. Russia only had one other fleet left, which was located half a world away. The decision had been made, and they began traveling to Port Arthur. Due to prior incidents, they had to take the longer route, deepening the misfortune in the Romanov family.

Asking For Peace
After failed attempts and almost being destroyed in the Battle of the Tsushima Strait, it became clear they had to ask for peace. However, the Tsar wanted to keep on fighting. He sent a telegram to the Kaiser and clearly stated that he did not want to give up. He wanted to drive the Japanese out of Manchuria. The Russians were defeated in May 1905. After the Russians asked for peace, the Treaty of Portsmouth was signed, and peace was reinstalled.

Anti-Jewish Pogroms
Anti-Jewish pogroms were nothing else but rioting against Russia’s Jews. Some historians believe that these riots were actually encouraged by the Tsarist Secret Police. Between 1903 and 1906, many people lost their lives when the Jews took to using firearms in order to defend their families from the instigators and rioters. Even though Nicholas II and the Orthodox Church publicly condemned the riots, it was only a formality. The truth was that Nicholas actually admired the riots and thought they were a powerful tool.

Bloody Sunday
Also known as Red Sunday, the 22nd of January is an important day to remember. On that particular Sunday in 1905, peaceful demonstrators were walking to the Winter Palace. Organized by a priest named Georgy Gapon, they decided to give Tsar Nicholas a petition. They were unarmed and had no intention to start a fight. Nonetheless, soldiers of the Imperial Guards opened fire. This is said to be the event that led to the Revolution in 1905.

The First Russian Revolution
This revolution began in 1905. Some say this laid down the guidelines for the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. It all started due to the disgruntled people of Russia. The way this manifested was through strikes, unrest, and even riots. The people were asking for reforms and a better quality of life. This revolution ended with a reformed party system, a new constitution, and the State Duma. However, that would not be enough, and soon, another war would start with greater consequences.

Matters Of Succession
Nicholas II started wondering whether he would have an heir to the throne. Given the fact that Alexandra only gave birth to four daughters, his worry grew. However, in 1904, she finally birthed him a son. Alexei was the first and only boy to be born in the current Romanov Family. Unfortunately, like his mother and great grandmother, he carried a hereditary disease.

Royal Family
In 1894 Nicholas II was married to his wife, Alexandra, and it was known that they loved each other. This was a rare thing to happen, as monarchs usually married for benefits and dynastic future. They had four daughters and the heir, Alexei, in 1904. They were a happy and loving family. But they were seen as outsiders by the Russian population. Alexandra, with a naturally imposing and introverted character, knew this. She became highly sensitive and paranoid.

The Collapse of the Romanov Family
During World War I, as supplies became scarce and rebellions started all over Russia, Nicholas left the country alone as he went to the war fronts during 1915-1916. This meant leaving the country open to insurrections and considerable losses in the war. Approximately 1.7 million Russian soldiers were killed. The citizens were very low on morale. With prices skyrocketing and food shortage riots started, the czar was asked to return to the country and reign. Misinformed, Nicholas II ordered firm actions against the protesters. With this mistake made, Nicholas had little choice in the matter.

The Heir, Alexei
Alexei was born with hemophilia. This is a condition in which the blood cannot clot normally, and that means that you bleed more from any injury you have. People with this condition can die from small injuries that represent no problem to a healthy individual. Alexei was pampered and cared for by all the members of the family. With a gentle nature and mischievous spurs, Alexei was loved unconditionally by every Romanov member.

Rasputin the Healer
Rasputin is notorious in Russian history for being one of the greatest manipulators. When the search for someone who could cure Alexei had failed, Alexandra turned to people who could foresee the future. She met a Siberian man named Rasputin. One day, Alexei suffered an injury. With the limited knowledge they had at the time, the doctors did not know how to save him. Because of his condition, they could not stop the bleeding, but Rasputin reassured Alexandra that he would live, and he did. That is when her trust in Rasputin grew even stronger.

The Romanov Tercentenary
The tercentenary was a celebration throughout the entire Russian territory. For an entire week, they celebrated three hundred years of Romanov ruling and the Romanov Dynasty. For seven days, receptions were held in the Winter Palace. Power and wealth were put on display with parades in St. Petersburg. After that, the royal family took a trip that Mikhail I Romanov participated in. They revisited all the places he went to. It was a tool to resurrect the memory of the historical character that the Romanovs had in Russia.

The Collapse
The morale of the Russian people was very low. During the First World War, approximately 1.7 million Russians were killed. Many others were lost without a trace. The economy was collapsing, and inflation was growing by the day. The Russian winter was cold, and the food supplies ceased to arrive. This caused the people to take matters into their own hands. Riots started. Shops were vandalized. People were even asking for the Tsar to abdicate.

The Abdication
The abdication of Tsar Nicholas II was imminent. After he left the capital and refused to come back, things took a turn for the worse. He agreed to abdicate his throne and that of his son Alexei. The Tsar asked Michael Alexandrovich to step up but he refused. He stated that only if the movement was made in a democratic way he would accept it. The long 300 years of ruling came to an end when the Duke decided not to take the proposition.

Exile
The new government and Nicholas wanted to send the royal family into exile, but the war was still going on. Therefore, asylum in the United Kingdom and France were denied. They believed it would create unrest. Although the United Kingdom offered asylum in March 1917, the Russian government wanted a country that would be neutral in the war. Having found no such thing, they returned in the summer to the United Kingdom. However, they were refused due to British internal politics.

Imprisonment
With asylum seeming out of reach, and with every proposal facing multiple obstacles, it was decided to send the royal family under house arrest. In the Tsarskoye Selo palace, they were left with full privacy inside. They were watched only when they went outside. The family was moved in August 1917 to Tobolsk, where they lived in the Governor’s mansion until April of 1918. They were later moved again to Yekaterinburg, where they stayed at the Ipatiev House.

Yekaterinburg Imprisonment
After spending time in Tsarskoye Selo and Tobolsk, it was decided the Romanovs should go to Yekaterinburg. On their way there, the group leaders decided they should instead be taken to Omsk. That plan did not succeed, however, and their train was stopped by prepared and armed men. Soon after, they arrived at their final destination, where they would all remain until their deaths. They were kept under very strict rules and were left without their possessions and belongings.

The Decision To Execute
Russian people started talking about the possible outcomes regarding the Romanovs. Some wanted them dead. Some wanted them to spend the rest of their lives in prisons. The leaders of the Bolshevik group made up their minds and wanted to bring Nicholas to trial. However, it was decided that the former royal family should be executed as soon as a written statement with approval came from Moscow. The document that states that they were to be executed was never found.

Execution
With several accounts of what happened, the most accurate facts that are known are that the family was woken at 2:00 AM and told to get dressed with the excuse that military forces were approaching the city. Nicholas, his wife, their four daughters, their son, their doctor, and three servants were led into the half-basement room. It was announced that it had been decided that they would be executed. The executioners filled the room and killed the royal family with bullets and bayonets.

Execution – Other Versions
There are a lot of stories surrounding the execution of the Romanovs. People have yet to unanimously decide on one. Yurovsky states that on July 17, 1918, during the early hours of the day, the Romanovs were woken up and asked to go into the basement. The couple, their children, their servants – a total of 11 people were killed that night. Contrary to what people may say, Nicholas was shot to his chest and not his head. But there are rumors surrounding the night…

Anastasia – Early Life
Born in 1901, Anastasia is the fourth and youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II. The news of her birth brought great disappointment to the Tsar, who was hoping for a boy who could later take the reins of the Empire. However, Tsar Nicholas named her after St. Anastasia as a tribute to her name. She was a happy, mischievous, and beautiful child, despite the initial disappointment surrounding her birth. The rumors surrounding the execution involve Anastasia…

Anastasia’s Last Day
Until recent years, there had been a lot of mystery regarding the death of Anastasia Nikolaevna. The Bolshevik Revolution started in the fall of 1917. Alongside her family, Anastasia was captured by the Red Army. They were held against any negotiations conducted by Royal families throughout Europe. Aware of the fact that Yekaterinburg would perish once the White Army arrived, the Reds decided it was time the Royal Family had to go.

Remains and DNA
Several years after her death, scientists began digging in order to find the bodies. Outside Yekaterinburg, in a forest, archaeologists found 9 sets of remains belonging to 9 people, instead of the 11 they were supposed to find. Some say that two of them were moved in order to deny their identity in case the White Army found them. There were a lot of debates regarding the missing two bodies. The Russian scientists claim the bodies of Anastasia’s older sister, Maria, and her younger brother, Alexei, were the missing ones, while Americans contend that Anastasia was missing.

Impersonators
After the disappearance of the Romanovs, a lot of people started asking questions about whether little Anastasia was still alive. Over time, a lot of people claimed to be the deceased duchess. One of the most notorious cases was that of Anna Anderson. The first claims were made at the beginning of 1920, but she officially started her case in 1938 for recognition. She lost in 1970 when judges decided she did not have enough proof. She passed in 1984, and ten years later, tests were conducted to prove she was not a Romanov.

Did Duchess Anastasia Survive?
There are speculations that the daughters survived the first wave of bullets with the protection of 1.3 kg of jewels sewn into their clothes. And with the fact that no one seemed to know for sure what happened that night, anything seems possible. This speculation appeared when scientists found, in 1990, body evidence only for Nicholas, Alexandra, and three daughters. In 2007, authorities found the two missing children. This solved the mystery and left many feeling the chapter was closed for good.

Funeral
On the 80th anniversary of their death, at Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral, the remains of the Romanov family were buried. This was on July 17, 1998 in Saint Petersburg. At the ceremony, the Russian president at the time, Boris Yeltsin, was present. Additionally, the British Royal family with Prince Michael of Kent and more than 20 ambassadors from all over the world were seen at the funeral.

Sainthood
Nicholas II was named a Saint by the Orthodox church in Russia and was given the name of Royal Passion-Bearer Czar Nicholas II of Russia. In 1981, the members of the Romanov family were recognized as martyred saints. This choice was very controversial. The definition of a martyr has everything to do with why that person was killed and nothing to do with their actions.
