Ozzy Couldn’t Believe the News at First

The “Prince of Darkness” was looking at his phone when he saw the news about Eddie Van Halen. Ozzy says that he couldn’t believe it at first.

“He was a good man. It’s always a sad day when somebody like that dies. It’s like when Michael Jackson died. I didn’t believe it at first. It’s such a f****** loss.”

Even though the two rockstars hadn’t hung around for a long time, Osbourne recalls when Van Halen joined him on the last official Black Sabbath tour in 1979, opening the show.

Eddie Van Halen Was a Great Guitarist

Osbourne shared that every time he saw Eddie, it was fun and then raved about Van Halen’s talent with the guitar. Ozzy explains how many good and clever guitar players are out there, but it’s not just about playing an instrument. It’s about putting emotions behind that and Eddie Van Halen made this look so easy.

“I could sit and watch Eddie Van Halen play guitar all day. He’s so entertaining as a guitar player. “

Wolf, Eddie Van Halen’s son, confirmed on Twitter that his father had passed away on Tuesday morning (Oct 6th, 2020). Wolf also added that he might never recover from this loss and that his heart was broken.

The guitar hero had a rapid decline in health over the past few days and his cancer spread to all his organs. Eddie’s wife, Janie Liszewski, his son Wolf, and his ex-wife and mother of Wolf — Valerie Bertinelli — were at the hospital with him at the time of his death.
